Job Summary
The Director - Software Engineering is responsible for leading the design, development, delivery, and continuous evolution of the MADTECH.AI platform. This role provides strategic and technical leadership to multiple engineering teams responsible for building scalable, secure, cloud-native B2B SaaS products.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished engineering leader with deep expertise in software architecture, cloud platforms, AI-enabled applications, data engineering, DevOps, and modern engineering practices. This individual will build high-performing engineering teams, establish engineering excellence, drive innovation, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products while working closely with Product Management, AI/ML, Data Engineering, QA, Customer Success, and Business leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Strategy & Technology Leadership
- Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with the organization's business and product objectives.
- Establish engineering standards, architectural principles, coding best practices, and software development governance.
- Drive technology modernization and adoption of emerging technologies including AI, Generative AI, cloud-native platforms, and automation.
- Develop long-term technology roadmaps to ensure scalability, maintainability, and security.
Software Engineering Leadership
- Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for backend, frontend, platform engineering, integrations, and DevOps.
- Ensure successful delivery of high-quality software products within timelines and budget.
- Oversee software architecture, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Drive engineering productivity through Agile delivery methodologies and engineering metrics.
Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Provide technical leadership for scalable microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Guide architectural decisions across cloud infrastructure, APIs, data platforms, AI services, and integrations.
- Ensure platform scalability, performance, availability, reliability, and security.
- Lead architecture reviews and technology evaluations.
Engineering Operations & Delivery Excellence
- Improve engineering processes, SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment automation.
- Implement DevSecOps best practices.

- Ensure operational excellence through observability, monitoring, incident management, and root cause analysis.
AI & Data Engineering Enablement
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate intelligent capabilities into the platform.
- Enable scalable data pipelines, APIs, AI agents, RAG architectures, and GenAI applications.
- Promote engineering practices that support analytics, automation, and customer intelligence.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Management to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with QA, Security, DevOps, Customer Success, Sales Engineering, and Product teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support customer escalations requiring engineering leadership.
People Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and retain world-class engineering talent.
- Build a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Develop engineering managers and technical leads.
- Drive performance management, succession planning, and career development.
Technical Expertise
- Strong expertise in designing and developing scalable, secure, cloud-native B2B SaaS applications using modern software engineering principles and best practices.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, including microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, API-first design, and multi-tenant platforms.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in AWS (mandatory); exposure to Azure and GCP is preferred. Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Extensive experience with modern software development technologies and frameworks such as Java, Python, Node.js, React, Angular, TypeScript, and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI technologies, including AI Agents, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG architectures, MCP (Model Context Protocol), TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and LLM integrations.
- Experience with data engineering, including SQL, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, reverse ETL, data modeling, data lakes, and large-scale data processing frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, Kafka, webhooks, third-party integrations, and modern integration frameworks.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), automated testing, release management, monitoring, logging, observability, and production support.
- Expertise in Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Jira, engineering planning, sprint execution, and continuous delivery.
- Strong understanding of software quality engineering, secure coding practices, performance optimization, scalability, reliability engineering, and engineering governance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 8 years leading large engineering teams.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale B2B SaaS products.
- Strong hands-on background in software architecture, cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, and modern application development.
- Experience leading engineering organizations of 30+ engineers across multiple functional teams.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, cloud-native applications, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience working with global customers across the US, UK, Australia, and MENA markets.
- Demonstrated success in building high-performing engineering organizations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
- Willing to work from Mysuru or Bengaluru.
